Flash Floods Hit Huge Financial Losses Across Some Provinces

KABUL (BNA) Severe floods hit eastern provinces of the country following the rainfall, causing huge life and financial losses in the past two days.

On Wednesday Floods in Kunar, Nooristan, Laghman, and Logar provinces destroyed many farmlands and hit huge financial losses.

The provincial head of information and culture in Kunar Najibullah Hanif told BNA that the flood catch from Nooristan and damaged the Chapadaree district of that province and flash floods covered the areas.

He said, the bodies of a woman and a child, who are from Nooristan were swept away by the flood, and later found by the local residents.

In some sites, conservatories, bridges, culverts, and agricultural lands were also destroyed, he added.

Another old man was injured by thunder and lightning in the Chepedaree district, said local residents.

At the same time, the local officials of Logar say that following the heavy rain, the city of Pul-Alam and the districts of Barahki Barak, Mohammad Agha, Khushi, Kharwar, and Charkh of that province have been flooded.

A Logar security official said that an eight-year-old girl died due to the collapse of a wall in the city of Pol Alam.

Many residential houses and thousands of acres of farmlands and gardens have been destroyed in recent floods, he added.

Local officials in Laghman say that floods have caused huge financial losses in some parts of the province, but there have been no human casualties.
