FM Atmar, Indian Ambassador Discuss Peace Process

Kabul (BNA)  The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Haneef Atmar met with the Indian Ambassador to Kabul, Rudrendra Tandon, and both sides discussed about further strengthening relations between the two countries and recent developments in the Afghan peace process, according to a MoFA statement.

The Foreign Minister, as quoted in the statement yesterday, spoke about the preparations for the Turkish-hosted peace talks in Istanbul and stressed India’s comprehensive and constructive role in strengthening the regional and global consensus for the success of the peace talks.

Ambassador Tandon, while appreciating the efforts of the Afghan government to reach a political solution, assured the Foreign Minister of his country’s readiness for comprehensive cooperation with Afghanistan.

Both sides also discussed the latest developments in the Afghan peace talks and stressed the need for continued cooperation between the two countries, aiming for success of the Afghan peace talks which would be held Turkey, and the provision of lasting and just peace in the country.
