Kabul (BNA) Traditional Gulghundi festival (Purple Flower Festival) was marked in the outskirt of Parwan provincial capital Charikar the other day.
Attended by thousands of people including some foreign tourists, the ceremony was held in a peaceful environment where hundreds of street vendors and restaurants begun operations to serve the visitors. Shedding light on the importance of the festival, Abdul Wahid Hashimi the director of information and culture of Parwan province in talks with Kabul Times said that the objective of the holding the festival is to put on display the handicrafts, local dishes and natural beauty of Parwan to attract tourists and boost economy of the people there. The visitors including children enjoy the festival by playing sports, flying kites and other locals and national games on the day to mark Gulghundi festival.
