HEC Discuss Key Economic Issues

Kabul (BNA) Chaired by President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, High Economic Council (HEC) held meeting the other day.
Attended by a number of cabinet members, MPs and private sector, the meeting discussed issues related to its agenda. During the meeting, Sayed Mansour Sadat Naderi, the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Urban Development presented his report about the results of assessment on offering pre-construction industry services. He presented the proposal of a company that was offered the lowest price of $10.5 in establishing pre-construction constructive factory.  Likewise, Muhammadullah Batash, the minister of transport and aviation presented his report on exporting of fruits and other Afghani products.
He said that he has established necessary facilities in majority of the country’s airports. In the meeting, representing other exporters and investors, head of industrialists’ union thanked the president and the government for the recent steps on paving the way of exports through airports. President Ghani said the related government offices should provide the power requirements of the Kandahar airport spring houses in consultation with private sector.
The ministers of foreign affairs, commerce, public works and two Wolesi Jirga’s members presented their suggestions and views on standardization of Afghanistan’s roads and current problems on collection of revenues. In the meeting, President Ghani said management of the current transport system is unacceptable, because transit money is not being paid and in addition to that corruption is ruling in the country.
It was decided in the meeting that suggestions and proposals of the technology experts should be considered on how to collect the revenues through it.
Asadullah Zamir, the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock presented his report on wheat planting survey and procedure of buying wheat. President Ghani thanked the ministry for its efforts and providing the more precise figures comparing the last year, adding all agricultural products should be assessed to be known where they are being produced and planted based on which a policy to be made. At the end, Ghazal Habibyar, acting minister of mines and petroleum presented report on price of Afghanistan’s natural gas.
After exchanging views in the respect, the meeting decided to assign a board to review different dimensions of using natural gas of the country and those companies willing to invest on this field should use modern machines and technology.
