FM Muttaqi Meets Japan Ambassador

KABUL (BNA) Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi discussed security, humanitarian and other mutual interest issues with Japan ambassador to Afghanistan on Tuesday in his office.

Ambassador Takashi Okada expressed Satisfaction maintaining security in Afghanistan and said approvaling a budget which is totally lay on domestic revenue is a step towards Afghanistan’s economic development.

Mr. Okada said humanitarian aid to Afghanistan showed that the world wanted to engage with the Afghan government.

In addition to assistance in agriculture, education and other development sectors, the Japanese ambassador announced that his country was consulting Afghanistan to take necessary steps for economic growth.

Japan interested in cooperating with Afghans on humanitarian, development and other issues, and will not link humanitarian aid to political issues.

During the meeting Foreign Minister Muttaqi hailed Japan for its assistance, expressing hope for Japan’s development assistance in completing outstanding projects in Afghanistan and for plans drawn up by late Dr. Nakamura – Japanese citizen who provided invaluable service to the Afghan people.

Muttaqi said the new Afghan government launched a compign on counter-narcotics and drug treatment, the whole world, including Japan, should provide health, food and other assistance in this sector.
