FM Muttaqi Reaffirms Cooperation with Iran

KABUL (BNA) Amir Khan Muttaqi Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan received Iranian ambassador Bahadur Aminian in his office, on Saturday.

In a statement, the Afghan Foreign Ministry said both sides discussed issues of mutual interest including the live situation of Afghans in Iran, prisoners, drugs, border conflicts, and bilateral cooperation.

Ambassador Aminian said security and stability in Afghanistan are in the interest of regional countries, adding that Iran strives to remain a good neighbor with the country of Afghanistan.

He said Iran is ready to cooperate with Afghan farmers in the sector of agriculture and vowed that his country will give priority import for Afghan products.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Muttaqi praised Iran’s positive cooperation with the Afghan government and promised to pave the ground to boost cooperation between the two neighboring countries.

The Islamic Emirate strives to establish a transit center at a regional level that is in the interest of all countries around Muttaqi said every facility will be provided to transfer commercial goods between Iran and Tajikistan.

According to the Foreign Ministry statement at the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to hold a joint meeting among officials to solve border issues and boost bilateral cooperation.
