President Reiterates Government’s Support for Young Entrepreneurs

Kabul (BNA) The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, during a meeting with young entrepreneurs’ yesterday afternoon, listened to their problems and suggestions in various fields, a statement from the presidential press office said.
At the outset, Fahim Didar and Mirwais Aria spoke on behalf of others, and thanked the President for his support and encouragement of the young entrepreneurs, saying that his promises to the young entrepreneurs, especially their representations in the meetings of the High Economic Council has been implemented, the statement added.
Referring to the problems of young entrepreneurs, they said that the coronavirus, like in other parts of the world, has had a negative impact on the Afghan economy and life too, resulting in many entrepreneurs losing their jobs and many people becoming unemployed, the statement quoted.
They also called for the creation of a special loan fund for entrepreneurs and tax exemptions during the outbreak of the coronavirus, adding that the government has cooperated with them in the past, hoping to support investors and entrepreneurs in the current situation.
After listening to their speeches and suggestions, President Ghani praised the work of the young entrepreneurs, saying: “You are a young generation who provided jobs for other compatriots in difficult circumstances.”
The President, as quoted in the statement, added: “I support you and your problems will be addressed in a timely manner. For new ventures, make a clear and comprehensive plan for the government to work with you.”
The President noted that government was ready to have a clear discussion with the young entrepreneurs and they will be given a share in the procurement. “We want to strengthen domestic production and entrepreneurs can receive big contracts.”
Referring to the creation of a special loan fund for entrepreneurs, President Ghani said: "We agree with the creation of this fund, but the management of the fund is very important and the entrepreneurs should work on it together with the government."
Concluding his speech, the President said that one of the big problems of entrepreneurs was lack of space, and reiterated government’s support for providing of property in the capital Kabul and other provinces. “In the medium term, we will create a park for entrepreneurs.”
