President Ghani Seeks Enhanced Ties With China

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met yesterday with Chinese chief of army staff.
In the meeting held at presidential palace, the Chinese chief of army staff briefed related the Chinese president’s visions, plans and programs in connection with Afghanistan and the region, regarding relations between China and Afghanistan as friendly and good. “The people of China are still praising and recalling your mission in World Bank, implementing irrigation projects in various parts of China,” the Chinese chief of army staff said, adding China was praising Afghanistan government for its efforts towards maintaining peace, expansion of relations and counter terrorist effort, assuring the president for his country’s continued cooperation with Afghanistan. The Chinese General further said his country would assist 480 ¥ to Afghanistan in military sectors besides development and economic cooperation with Afghanistan. In the meeting, President Ghani while praising China for its cooperation with Afghanistan added Afghanistan was trying to expand its further friendly relations with China. Evaluating terrorism as a serious threat not only for Afghanistan but also for China, the region and the world, the president added that Afghanistan national security forces were bravely fighting against terrorism.
