President Ghani Meets Iran Supreme Leader

Kabul (BNA) Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan met with Ayatullah Khamenei, the supreme leader of Islamic Republic of Iran during his visit to Tehran the other day. At the meeting, the Iranian leader, besides welcoming president Ghani and his entourage, described Afghanistan as center of culture of the history, saying Iran wishes prosperity for this country.
Iran would benefit if Afghanistan turns into a cross road of  trade and economic activities, the leader of the Islamic Republic said, adding both the neighboring states can jointly overcome the problems through expanding cooperation.
Expressing gratitude over the hospitality according to the president and his entourage during Iran visit, president Ghani lauded Tehran’s viewpoint with regard to Afghanistan.
The president noted the literature has been developed in Afghanistan and poetry in the fields of Dari, Pashtu and Uzbeki has been promoted.
He said that he would often present as gift collection of poems of Mawlana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi to anyone who visits Afghanistan.
President Ghani in the meeting termed terrorism as common enemy of both the countries and said that the emergence of Daesh, al-Qadia and other international terror networks has been threatening the whole region.
Once again congratulating the agreement between Iran and five major powers plus one (5p+1) to the Iranian leader, President Ghani stated Afghanistan-Iran relations would farther get closer in the years ahead, saying both the countries can cooperate in the fields of transit, investment, economic cooperation and banking.
President Ghani also emphasized that both Iran and Afghanistan could stand alongside each other against illegal economy and terrorism.
