Kandahar City (BNA) Taliban attack on Arghistan district, of southern Kandahar province have repulsed by Afghan security forces the night before last.
Samim Ekhpelwak spokesman of Kandahar governor told BNA reporter, a group of armed oppositions had plan to attack on Arghistan district and capture the area, which faced with violent strength of Afghan security forces and their attack was pushed back.
Gun battle between Afghan security forces and the Taliban rebels had continued for several hours, which armed rebels suffered losses, further information regarding the number of casualties is not available, Ekhpelwak added.
A policeman was martyred following the clashes and Taliban forced to scuttle from the district, the source concluded.
