Security Situation Under Control: Cabinet Assures

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani presided over the meeting of cabinet here at the Presidential Palace the other day.
At the outset, he briefed the cabinet members about the outcome of his recent visit to India and described his meetings with Indian leaders including his Indian counterpart and Prime Minister as positive.
India, he said had agreed to increase the number of scholarships to 1000 annually over the next five years to Afghanistan, besides boosting trade and economic cooperation between the two nations.
In the meeting it was said that security situation is under control as the national security forces for the first time liberated Nawa district from Taliban clutch and had conducted successful operations against terrorists in Kunduz, Baghlan and Badakhshan provinces.
As per agenda, the minister of finance presented his report about the fulfilling of government commitments at London Conference with regard to bringing reforms, fighting corruption and ensuring good governance, saying work by concerned bodies to implement the remaining commitments is going on.
The minister for justice presented the norm of the salary of general director of the Radio Television of Afghanistan (RTA) to the cabinet meeting and the finance ministry was tasked to fix the salaries of RTA chief and other directors of the entity with keeping in mind the yearly budget.
Cabinet in the meeting also approved agreement between the Law Faculty of Washington University and La and Sharia Faculty of Herat University, agreement between national defense ministry of Afghanistan and the defenses ministry of China under which the Chinese ministry would provide military assistance free of charge and postal cooperation agreement between the Afghan ministry of Communication and Information Technology with the Post Office of the People’s Republic of China.
The cabinet tasked ministries for foreign affairs and justice to prepare the correct and finalize the agreements in Pashto and Dari Languages.
