AGO To Address Farkhunda’s Killing Case Within Month

Kabul (BNA) Attorney General Office (AGO) says investigation process of those accused of Farkhunda’s killing will be addressed in a month. Abdul Baser Azizi, spokesman of Attorney General has told media that they had received related files to those accused of Farkhunda’s killing case, adding that the suspects were 44 people including 19 police officers. “Attorney general will address the files within a month and currently all suspects are under arrest” Azizi said. Azizi has yet to give further details related to the accused individuals, but a police official has said police chief for 2nd PD was also among the suspects of the incident.   Farkhunda, 27, was brutally beaten to death in Shah-e-du-Shamshira area of Kabul city on the accusation of burning Holy Quran. Following the incident, a commission has been tasked by the president to investigate the incident. It is worth mentioning that ministry of hajj and a religious affair has granted the title of ‘Martyr Sister’ to Farkhunda.
