High-Rank Officials of IEA Left For Qatar Amid Airport Issues

KABUL (BNA) High-rank officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan led by Mullah Hamidullah Akhundzadeh, Acting Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, left for Qatar on Friday.

The trip will be accompanied by Ministers Muttaqi, Khairullah Khairkhwa, Acting Minister of Transport and Aviation, and deputy minister of National defense. add reports.

Talks on the pending contract of Afghanistan’s five international airports with Qatar plus Turkey are said to be the main goal behind visits of high-rank officials to Qatar.

Lately, a meeting of the economic commission presided by deputy prime minister, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, tasked the Foreign Ministry to set a definite time for Qatar over Kabul airport management.

Based on reports: Qatari companies are currently running the technical affairs of the airport but there has been no contract.

This is while Turkish and Qatar, signed a memorandum of understanding on Dec 7 2021 to operate the airport as an equal partnership, Said Media sources.

Flights were suspended at international airport in Kabul and some others after the Islamic Emirate regain Soverginity in August and Occupier troops destroyed equipment and a radar system at the facility before leaving Afghanistan.
