Japan Assists $20 Million to MRRD

Kabul (BNA) This was stated by the Japanese ambassador in his meeting with Wais Barmak Minister of Rehabilitation and Rural Development (MRRD).
This assistance will be utilized for infrastructural projects in the rural regions of Afghanistan.
Wais Barmak while appreciating the Japanese assistance provided information on the constructive role of the MRRD and the village and district development shuras in improving the farmer’s life and asked for further support of the Japanese government and continued assistance of that country.
Barmak also mentioned of MRRD’s new project entitled support to private entrepreneurs in Herat, Balkh, Nangarhar, Bamyan, and Parwan provinces and asked the Japanese ambassador to assist the MRRD in upgrading capacities to better implement the project.
It is said that in a week time Sweden has assisted $3.3 million, Australia $11.5 million and Japan $20 million for the National Solidarity Program, regional development and national program for rural road building of the MRRD accordingly.
