Kabul (BNA) The first group of US troops has arrived in Kabul, apparently re-entering the US military scene in Afghanistan twice to help evacuate US embassy staff and other civilians.
The Pentagon has said that two groups of 3,000 Marines and infantry will arrive in Kabul on Sunday evening.
The Pentagon has said that a combat team from Fort Bragg, North Carolina, will move to Kuwait to act as a rapid reaction force for security in Kabul if needed.
Britain and Canada have also announced that they will send troops to Kabul to withdraw their diplomats.
