Afghanistan-Nepal Leaders Stress On Expansion of Relations

Kabul (BNA) Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan met with his Nepalese counterpart, Ram Baran Yadav during his first day visit to that country.
According to Presidential press office to BNA, in the meeting held at the Nepal Presidential Palace in Kathmandu, both sides exchanged views and discussed on extension of relations between the two countries in various aspects, particularly under the framework of SAARC and other interested issues.
Nepalese President while welcoming President Ghani and his accompanied delegation asserted that the people of Nepal and Afghanistan were living in the same region and had common civilization, adding that the governments of Afghanistan and Nepal have had diplomatic relations for the past 50 years and now further efforts should be made towards further expansion of the relations.
The Nepalese President expressed hope that his country and SAARC could use experiences of President Ghani.
In return, President Ghani while expressing gratitude for receiving the Afghan delegation said he was happy to visit the friendly country of Nepal after years. President Ghani called his Nepalese counterpart as a personality raised from inner society of the country, saying that he has made lots of efforts for stability and development of his country. The country’s president considered historic relations between Afghanistan and Nepal as good, emphasizing that friendship and relations between the two countries would not only be kept continued, but also extended and consolidated.  
According to another report, at the sideline of his Nepal’s visit, the President met with his Sri Lankan counterpart, Mahinda Rajapaksa exchanging views on how to restore peace in the country. The Sri Lankan President shared his experiences with President Ashraf Ghani in restoring peace in Afghanistan, as saying both nations had suffered much from war, adding that his country had experienced 30 years of war and is fully aware of the Afghanistan’s problems in this respect, the President Press Office reported. The president called Sri Lanka’s experiences in health and urban development effective in Afghanistan and hoped the experiences could help his country. Professionally training could also remain effective in creation of business and this filed could also be called a joint point of cooperation between the two nations.
