President Ghani Urges Ulama To Extend Peace Message Through Masjids

Kabul (BNA) President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, in a launched with a number of the country’s religious scholars urged them for doing more to extend the message of peace through the masjids’ tribunes, the presidential palace said Sunday.
In the meeting which was held at The Salam Khana Palace and attended by a number of religious scholars including Faiz Mohammad Usmani, Minister of Hajj and Islamic Affairs, Chairman of the country’s Ulama Council, Mawlavi Qeyamuddin Kashaf, a number of Imams of Masjids and the Kabul University lecturers, representing others, Mawlavi Enayatullah Baligh spoke and thanked the president for the luncheon served for them and expressed support to his peace plan and other national programs including economics and politics, said the statement. The country’s president, meanwhile, addressing them said: “We all have to respect you as you are following the holy way of the prophet. You are bridging gaps between the Arg and the people every day and calling on the people to join a peaceful and tranquil life.” The president said the existential philosophy of the country was only Islam adding: “We don’t believe in other philosophies and much has been paid in reconstruction and building of the historical mosques.” “You are the messenger of peace and extending the peace message through the masjids’ tribunes are most needed,” said the president.
