Kabul (BNA) Prolongation of the process of elections and delay on announcement of the results the votes have faced Afghanistan in to an intricate situation that requires all Afghan people to join hands together and to defend the national interests and to prevent the emerging of a crisis that can jeopardize the political situation of the country.
BNA political analyst writes on that regard: more than a month has passed since the process of voting completed. Based on agreement between the two teams of candidates, at least 100 voting boxes should be audited daily while 24 days have passed since the commence of auditing but so far only about 39 boxes have been audited.
The continuation of such a situation has worsened the political, economic, and social atmosphere of the country and harassed the spirit of our people participated in the two rounds of the elections eagerly. In the other hand the prolongation of the process of elections in Afghanistan has drawn the attention of people across the world to Afghanistan and its people because no process of elections in any country of the world has been so complicated and time taking process. If the situation not ended immediately, that would defame our reputation in the world that could harms our identity severely.
The delay on announcement of the results of the votes and prolongation of the process are the source of concerns of all strata’s of people. All people from an ordinary citizen to a politician, a businessperson, and leadership of the country share this concern. Hamid Karzai the president of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan recently, in two separate meetings with the university lecturers and UN special envoy to Afghanistan emphatically said, the process of the auditing and announcement of the results of the elections should be ended timely, because the prolongation of the process has affected negatively the security and social life of our people and effected badly the economic situation of the country. What is important in what the president has said ,is that the process should be ended the end of the current year in order the people find the political track of their country and to relieve for a while and to remove the current concerns regarding to political and economic situation of their homeland.
Now it depends to the political wisdom of the teams of the candidate and to management of the commissions of the elections to exercise restrain against each other and to meet their commitments made regarding to the establishment of a unity government.
It should be clearly declare that the people lay the burden of responsibility on the shoulder of the election commissions and the two teams of the candidates regarding to any more delays. Because they are the only involved people in the process and accelerating the process depends on them.
Our people are hopeful for the future and it is expected, the hopes not be replaced by desperation but to be fulfilled by sincere and honest cooperation of the two teams of the presidential candidates. Abdul Khalil Minawi
