Govt. Preps For Brussels Summit

Kabul (BNA) Afghan authorities said they were getting ready for the upcoming Brussels summit, in which the participants would be assured about how the government could put its commitments into practice on reforms and counter-corruption efforts.
Shah Hussain Murtazavi, Presidential Spokesman told media that the government was working on some key issues including electoral reforms and opening the heavy process of fighting corruption. The government of Afghanistan would hold meeting based on specific timetable to work on the related agendas to assure the international community to comprehensively work on 39 indexes, the most important ones, fighting corruption and brining reforms in the electoral system, said Murtazavi. The meeting expected to be held for mulling on the key issues for the upcoming Brussels’ summit had been authorized by the country’s Supreme Court and AGO to officially lead the justice and judiciary center. He said both Warsaw and Brussels summits have a single message that the government of Afghanistan was going in the right direction something helped Afghanistan remain as the focal point of the international community and enjoys the world support, despites challenges faced by different world nations.
“The government of National Unity would be witnessing the government’s practical works on restoring electoral reforms in the next days,” Murtazavi assured. But, some house members and political experts believed that the government has failed to end the work of the acting officials, bring improvement in different government entities, well arranging war, bringing reforms and fighting corruption. After the end of Warsaw summit, Brussels summit was the most important conference on Afghanistan and the government should have clear reports about its achievements to the international community, said Kahlilullah Shaheedzada, a house member. “Reforms in the electoral system, restoring good governance, fighting corruption had been among the most key issues, the government of national unity should assure the Brussels member countries,” he said. Another expert, Amir Mohammad believed the Brussels summit a good opportunity for Afghanistan and said it should do its best to have a good evidence of their work on effective programs, they would launch on restoring good governance and bringing reforms.
The government should do its best to well manage war and prevent meddling in the war affairs by some government authorities, he said.
Jamal Farahmand, another political expert assured Afghanistan was not alone, but it should have positive response about its hard works in fighting drugs and corruption and restoring reforms and good governance. Afghan citizens also seem happy for not seeing their country alone and are sure they are supported by the world nations in war on terror, but (Aminullah, a military vet) asked the government for assuring the international community at the Brussels summit on their practical work on good governance and fighting corruption. A school teacher, Mursal asked the government of national unity to have achievement on its practical effort on good governance to may draw more support and cooperation of the world powers to the security forces of the country.
