Bagram Prison Transfers To Afghan Govt.

Kabul (BNA) The Bagram prison transferring agreement which was inked six months ago its responsibility is formally handed over to Afghan government in an official ceremony held at Bagram on September 10.
The handover of the prison from foreign forces to Afghan security forces during the third round of the security transition process clearly indicates that ANSF are now capable of maintaining security in the country.
Assuming the responsibility of Bagram prison is a stride towards ensuring national sovereignty and the rule of law in the country.
According to figures of justice ministry, 3182 detainees, all Afghans have been handed over to Afghan side.
“Out of this, 16 have been set free by the court and talks for handing over 600 more detainees who have been arrested by the Americans over the past six months are going on which after the completion to the process, the foreign forces would have no detention center in Afghanistan.
President Karzai in his message on transfer of Bagram prison to Afghan government said: “Today we are taking another big political step towards restoration of the sovereignty of the government of Afghanistan and this is full transition of the Bagram prison and its administration by the US forces to the government of Afghanistan.
With the transition of the Bagram prison to the government sovereignty, an ending point has been put to the foreign prisons on Afghan territory”.
The Bagram prison has been an ugly phenomenon that is the product of terrorist activities in Afghanistan.
Hereafter the Bagram prison have been turned into an ordinary captivity site of Afghanistan and the aliens will be freed from it and the criminals remain in it to witness their punishment as per the enforced laws Afghanistan.
The president also considers of Bagram prison to the government of Afghanistan as a victory for the nation and a big step towards verification of the national sovereignty of the government and congratulated the countrymen on the occasion.
President Karzai also in his meeting with Marc Grossman the US special envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan and his delegation discussed the recent transfer of Bagram prison and transfer of over 600 Afghans that are still kept by U.S forces.
The Afghan nation thanks all the administrations and foundation having strived in this respect and succeeded in their efforts and hope the acceleration of the pending files of the prisoners.
