Measles Vaccination Campaign Starts in Sar-E Pul

Sar-e-Pul (BNA) The measles vaccination campaign started Saturday in Sar-e-Pul province.

Mohammad Hassan Asim, deputy director Public Health Department of Sar-e-pul, called on residents to apply measles vaccine to children aged 6 months to 5 years in health centers.

Measles is a deadly disease, he said, urging influential people and religious scholars to work with vaccinators.

Dr. Mohammad Shakur, told BNA, the campaign is to apply measles vaccine to 170,000 children in Kohistanat, Gosfandi and Sar-e-Pul districts.

According to him, fifty children have been sampled so far, of which 35 has tested positive.
