NSA Meets German Foreign Minister, National Security Advisor

Kabul (BNA) Mohammad Hanif Atmar, National Security Advisor (NSA) in a meeting with German foreign affairs minister Steinmeier and national security advisor to German Chancellor discussed key issues such as security condition of Afghanistan, Afghan refugees and the country’s economic assistance to Afghanistan.
After meeting with NATO officials in Brussels and based on instruction of president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Hanif Atmar left Brussels for Germany on Sunday to hold official talks with the country’s officials.  
In the meeting, national security advisor asked his German counterpart for extension of German forces in Afghanistan.
The German national security advisor while reiterating his country’s cooperation and presence of forces in Afghanistan beyond 2016 insisted that German officials were determined to increase forces in Afghanistan. Related to condition of Afghan refugees in Germany, Atmar said due to decision of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, Afghanistan government was determined to work together with Germany on a joint plan to permanently end problems of Afghan refugees and immigrations. In the meeting, insecurity and improper economic condition of Afghanistan were enumerated as main reasons of immigration. German minister of foreign affairs welcomed the plan of Afghanistan, adding that his country was ready to increase its economic cooperation with Afghanistan.
