“Cultural Heritages are National Identity of a Country,” Prof. Bawary

Kabul (BNA) National Preservation of Cultural Heritages Day was marked in a ceremony in Chehlestoon palace with participation of government officials yesterday.
In the ceremony, deputy minister of art and culture for information and culture Prof. Mohammad Rasoul Bawary said that cultural heritages were national identity of a country; therefore, preservation of the heritages was the duty of all.
According to deputy minister of art and culture, for the first time in the history of Afghanistan, excavations were being carried out by the country’s archaeologists in five provinces.
Prof. Bawary further said that work was underway for renovation and reconstruction of historic monuments, adding that 47 historic monuments have been renovated and reconstructed in the past four years, showing 70 percent increase in renovation of the monuments comparing to 16 years back.
Afterwards, deputy minister of urban development and land spoke and said that his ministry in close cooperation with MoIC has renovated a number of historic sites in various provinces of the country.
