The historical background of Ghazni

Kabul (BNA) Poets, writers and scholars, who are from Ghazni call themselves Ghaznavee but the local people of Ghazni and entire Afghan people call them Ghaznichi. 
This ancient city is located 2219m above the sea level at the  foot of Safayed Koh mountains, alongside highway connects Kabul to the most ancient cities  of Kandahar and Herat but today those two cities are the most modern and populated cities of Afghanistan. 
Today, different ethnic groups like Pushtuns, Tajiks and Hazaras are living in Ghazni. 
Earlier a number of Hindus were also lived there. There are many minarets, mausoleums and other historical monuments are within that city. Even some people call Ghazni a city of saints. 
There are many ancient and historical monuments in Ghazni, which are the evidence of our old and glorious civilization there. 
The Tomb of Aboraihan Albiaroni the great scholar and the author of  valuable book Tahqiq Malehind (research on India), the mosque of Bahram Shah, minarets of Mohamood the great conqueror and tens of tombs and mosques archeologically very important are in Ghazni and visited by hundreds of people daily. 
The ancient places like Arg Ghaznain (Ghazni Fort) the tombs of Sabuktagain and Mahmood Ghaznvee are located in Ghazni. 
Without doubt, the existence of such important historical monuments, which are an important part of Islamic civilization and the Ghaznaweed empire which had played a significant role in extension of Islam to Indian subcontinent and south Asia, were incentives to the ministers of information and culture of Islamic countries in a gathering in 2007 accepted Ghazni as the capital of Islamic civilization by 2013. 
So, we advice you, who have great interest in knowing about Islamic civilization and want deeply familiarizing yourself with  Islamic civilization, to get preparation from now on to attend the festival held in 2013 for granting Ghazni the little of the capital of Islamic civilization, which deserves.
