Indian PM Phones Karzai Over Badakhshan Incident

Kabul (BNA) In a telephone contact with president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai, the Indian premier Monmohan Singh expressed his condolences on national disaster of landslide in Badakhshan and subsequent fatalities.
On behalf of his people and government Dr. Singh expressed sympathy and condolences to president Hamid Karzai and Afghan people and particularly the inhabitants of Badakhshan.
During this telephone conversation the Indian prime minister vowed a cash assistance of one million dollar to affected families of Badakhshan.
Expressing gratitude on assistance and condolences of Indian prime minister and people, the Afghan president said that this one million dollar will be spent for construction of house for affected families of Argo district of Badakhshan province.
President Karzai added that India has always supported Afghanistan in bad days as a close friend and brother country.
The Indian prime minister once again emphasized on his country’s long term assistance cooperation with Afghanistan.
