TAPI To Boost Regional Economic Cooperation, Impact On Security, CM

Kabul (BNA) Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah chaired the meeting of Council of Ministers at Sapedar Palace yesterday.
In the outset of the meeting, the security situation of Helmand was discussed and it was stressed to bring change into the security situation there. The national security forces have been defending their positions in Helmand province, the chief executive said. In the meeting, praying was also offered for the departed souls of the martyrs of personnel of security forces especially in Helmand province. The recent visit of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani to Turkmenistan and attending the ground breaking ceremony of TAPI project was appreciated in the meeting and it was said that implementing the project would create job opportunities, besides its importance to boost regional economic cooperation and having positive impact on security. Hinting to finance and economic meeting which was held on Sunday, the chief executive said that the revenue of the country has increased in the current yea, adding the target was 114 billion Afghanis while reached 119 billion Afghanis. He also added that achievement would prompt the international community to give 75 million US dollars which had promised to Afghanistan. The chief executive also thanked the Asian Development Bank and Japan for their assistance in developing the agriculture sector. Dr. Abdullah also instructed for acceleration of the procedure with regard to the membership of Afghanistan into World Trade Organization (WTO). In this regard he added that ministers for agriculture, commerce, industries and justice to have a joint meeting for finalizing the process. Similarly, Humayon Rasa the minister for commerce and industries described about Afghanistan’s membership to WTO and thanking US and other western countries for supporting Afghanistan in gaining membership requested the justice ministry to take essential steps for legal completion of the process. The chief executive in the meeting said that the support of international community to Afghanistan for getting WTO membership reflects world community’s support to Afghanistan.
