Internally Displaced Families Received Solar or Solar Electricity in Balkh

Mazar-e-Sharif (BNA) Solar or solar power was distributed to more than three hundred families of IDPs in Balkh yesterday.

According to BNA, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has distributed more than 300 solar panels to IDPs in Balkh province.

During the distribution of these solariums, Mawlavi Juma Golmehrez, the director of Balkh immigrants’ affairs, said, in a situation where unemployment and poverty are rampant, the coming of winter is another problem for the poor in society, if the government and partner institutions do not pay attention, a human catastrophe will occur.

Fahim Hamdard, a representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the north of the country, acknowledged the challenges facing IDPs and said, efforts are underway to solve this problem.

He added that one thousand electric solar stations were distributed to IDPs in Balkh, Baghlan and Faryab provinces yesterday..

The Balkh Refugee Directorate says that more than 35,000 internally displaced people from the Northern provinces live in seven camps around the city of Mazar-e-Sharif.
