Taliban Militants Killed in Kandahar Clashes

Kandahar (BNA) Sixteen Taliban insurgents were killed in two clashes in Kandahar.

The clashes took place last night in Panjwai and Maiwand districts when Taliban attacked on security forces bases.

Senior Maiwand Corps official in the south-west told BNA that 16 militants, including two Pakistanis, had been killed in the clashes.

He said the attackers were targeted from the ground and air raid of security forces when they attacked the checkpoints.

The Taliban have not yet commented in this regard.

According to another report, a Taliban ammunition depot was discovered in Kandahar.

The depot was kept in a Taliban hideout in Zheri district.

Police say several light and heavy weapons were recovered from the depot, including bombs and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and remote-controlled bombs.
