High-Level Delegation in Urozgan to Probe Civilian Casualties

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has appointed and sent a high level delegation to northern Uruzgan province to investigate civilian casualties in recent clashes between local residents and a local commander.
Based on the presidential order, a delegation headed by the president’s advisor, Asadullah Fatah, has arrived in Urozgan province to investigate recent civilian casualties.
Other advisors of the president, Dr. Mohammad Rassoul Talib, Mohammad Aziz Bakhtyar, Mualvi Mohammad Jora Tahiri, Mualvi Mohayuddin Baloch, Edi Mohammad Ahmadi, Mohammad Alam Rasikh and Mualvi Sayed Rahman Haqqani are part of the delegation, the source said.
The delegation is also accompanied by representatives from the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense, National Directorate of Security, Attorney General Office, Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) and Administrative Office of the President.
Many civilians suffered casualties during recent clashes between the Taliban militants and local commander, Shujai in Khas Urozgan district of Urozgan province.
Shujai was also wounded and his deputy killed during the battle, however he is accused of attacking, torturing and beating local residents and oppressing local people over the past six years.
