Islamic Emirate Delegation Meets with Representatives from Uzbekistan, Russia, and India Preceding Doha Meeting

KABUL(BNA): The delegation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, attending the third Doha meeting in Qatar, has met with special representatives from Uzbekistan and Russia.

Mawlavi Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and head of the delegation, announced on his X page that,  he had a productive meeting and exchange of views with Ismatullah Irgashev, the special representative of the President of Uzbekistan.

Mujahid added that Uzbekistan and Afghanistan have several economic projects together, and Uzbekistan expressed its support for the position of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in the Doha meeting.

Additionally, in another tweet, Mujahid wrote that they also had an important meeting with Zamir Kabulov, the special representative of the President of Russia, where they discussed the expansion of relations between Afghanistan and Russia.

He further mentioned that Russia has expressed support for the position of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. In response, the Islamic Emirate thanked Russia for its positive and constructive stance.

Moreover, Mawlavi Zabihullah Mujahid also reported that the delegation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan met with J.P. Singh, India’s representative for Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran, and discussed strengthening relations between Afghanistan and India.

On the other hand, Zakir Jalali, head of the third political department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, reported that Afghan delegation is scheduled to hold side meetings with representatives from India, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, the United Kingdom, Norway, Indonesia, the Netherlands, and the United Nations today, prior to the official start of the third Doha meeting.

Jalali announced that the official opening of the third Doha meeting will take place today, June 30, from 6:45 PM to 8:45 PM local time. On the second day, the meeting will feature two sessions: the first will address financial and banking sanctions and the private sector, while the second will focus on combating drug trafficking and preserving progress.

He added that the third Doha meeting will conclude on the second day after discussing the aforementioned topics.

Previously, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan announced that the delegation is fully prepared to address critical agenda items, such as combating narcotics, financial and banking sanctions, and overcoming obstacles hindering private sector development.
