Wednesday May 3, 2017

Kabul (BNA) 3rd of May the world day of media freedom is celebrated every year in the world while its one population is deprived of this gift.
On 3rd of May 1819, the then France government, announced it as the media freedom day in an unprecedented step. Since that year, several laws and statements have been codified and released on media freedom. As on 13 Nov 1985, the Human rights tribunal and Organization of American States (OAS) called every restriction against newspaper and reporters against Human Rights and media freedom norms. On 15 Nov 1989, the
UNESCO decided to adopt a new strategy of communication instead of New global Order of communication and information that had allocated different UNESCO discussions for 15-16 years and return to policies and programs that were adopted after the WWII. In subsequent different UNESCO and other international organizations seminars, emphasize took place on media and information freedom and its support. Parallel to these steps, on Dec 1993 emphasize took place in UNESCO general conference to progress of media freedom and the UN General Assembly, determined the world day of media freedom. Today, the media freedom is one of the biggest gains of democratic systems than other fields. Despite of all current problems, media achievements are considerable. 1395 was the worst year for reporters and journalists and they sustained casualties, beating, injuring, and martyrdom and insulation but despite of that performed their jobs under different considerations with full commitment. 48 reporters were killed but none of their cases were persecuted.
