MoIC Begins Restoration Process of Historic Mosque in Kandahar

Kabul (BNA) Deputy Minister of Cultural Affairs for Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) Prof. Mohammad Rasul Bawary inaugurated restoration works of the historic Grand Mosque in Kandahar on Thursday. 
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Bawary said the grand mosque was one of the oldest mosques in Kandahar and enjoying deep historical backgrounded, adding in line with President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani’s instructions, restoration of the grand mosques was going on across the country.
Prof. Bawary called upon Kandahar residents to have special attentions towards protection of the mosque.
Meanwhile Kandahar deputy governor Abdul Hanan Munib said the restoration process of the mosque to be finished within one year with the total cost of 11, 9 million Afghanis.
According to another report, deputy minister of culture Prof. Bawary and deputy governor of Kandahar Abdul Hanan Munib inaugurated archeological excavations at the historic Orange Palace of Kandahar Province here on Thursday.
Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Bawary said the excavations to be conducted by Archeology Department of Ministry of Information and Culture and would be continued till next three years.  He said the archeological excavations were started 55 years ago but was not completed due to some challenges.  Assuring full support to MoIC, deputy governor of Kandahar said founding father of Afghanistan, Ahmad Shah Baba’s Empire started from the Orange palace.
