S. Korean Taekwondo Champaign Assists Afghan Team

 Kabul (BNA): internationally well-known character and head of Asian Taekwondo Consultant Union in S. Korea, Sang Jin Kim is not only focusing on his country’s Taekwondo team, but also wants to assist the teams in other countries, particularly Afghanistan.

Mr. Kim in interview in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, said he considers himself as an Afghan.

He had so far contributed some 200,000 dollars to the Afghan Taekwondo team of youngsters and is expected to continue his cooperation with the Afghan Taekwondo Federation in the future.

On what was the reason behind his interest to cooperate with the Afghan taekwondo team, the Champaign said that in 2007, Afghan Taekwondo Team specially Champaign Ruhollah Nikpa and Nesar Ahmad Bahawi have made a tour to S. Korea, where “I found them more talented and was sure they can shine in this field in the future”.

“I sent a taekwondo trainer to Kabul to work with them from nearer and fully help them get developed in Taekwondo sport”, said Kim adding there was much difference between the youths in Afghanistan and in other countries.

“The youth in Afghanistan have born in war and are practicing sports under insecurity. They need enough food and security while the athletes in other countries are practicing sport in security and tranquility”, said Kim who said the Afghan youth laudable for their interests towards sport even under turmoil.

He pledged to provide all Afghan Taekwondo team members with expense except their airplane tickets, when they arrive in South Korea, and said the Afghan team attended the London Taekwondo contest had found cooperation from him and wound cooperate with them in the future, as well.

He said he was in contact with world Taekwondo teams to ask them for cooperation with the Afghan team, and added he was not only thanking on his country’s team but also on other Taekwondo players in the world, particularly Afghanistan.

Mr. Kim, besides his responsibility as the head of Asian Taekwondo Consultant Union in S. Korea has responsibilities in this field in some other countries such as Afghanistan Taekwondo federation vice-president-Afghanistan Olympic Team-Taekwondo Team Head Busan Taekwondo Association vice president Kosin University Department of Taekwondo Missiology- Adjunt Professor.

The South Korea Taekwondo Champaign has trained hundreds of students who are working as trainers one of them had been working as mentor for the Afghan Taekwondo Federation.
