Defense Minister Meets His Canadian Counterpart

Kabul (BIA) General Abdul Rahim Wardak, minister of defense met yesterday with Canadian defense minister. 

Both sides discussed about current security situation of Afghanistan and improvement of the situation of the country. 

Minister of defense appreciated Canada for its assistance and praised its effectiveness in maintaining of security in Kandahar, asking for further role of Canada in training of Afghan national army. 

The minister assured the Canadian minister of readiness of ANA for holding security responsibility. 

In the meeting, both sides discussed about Istanbul conference and emphasized on implementation of results of the conference. 

In return, Canadian Defense Minister Peter Macky reiterated his country’s assistance and commitment to Afghanistan in various military and economical sectors. 

He also assured of his country’s long-term cooperation with Afghanistan. 

Canada has 2830 soldiers stationed in Kandahar province.
