Kabul-Jalalabad Highway Re-Opened After Seven Hours

Kabul (BNA) Kabul-Jalalabad highway re-opened to traffic after seven hours of blockage by the protesters.
The Protesters blocked the highway near Nangarhar University in Nangarhar province at around 08:00 AM yesterday morning and re- opened it at around 03:20 PM in the afternoon.
During the blockage, they only allowed sick and injured people to cross.
Protesters re-opened the highway after local government officials promised a solution to the matter in a meeting with their representatives.
Protesters after blacking Kabul-Jalalabad highway in the morning gave slogans against land mafia in their province.
They also blamed local government for negligence, stating that the local government was informed about the matter but no action was taken in this regard.
No sign of violence was seen during the seven hours long protest. The Protesters were peaceful with holding Afghanistan’s flag.
Though, hundreds of vehicles on the busy highway of Kabul-Jalalabad waited for hours at both sides of the protest.
