Improved Seed, Fertilizer To Be Distributed To Kandahar’s Farmers To Avoid Poppy Cultivation

Kandahar (BNA) Zerar Ahmad Muqbek, minister for counter narcotics has traveled to Kandahar for reviewing counter narcotics process in the province. 
In a meeting with Dr. Toryali Wesa, governor of Kandahar related to reduction of poppy cultivation in the province, the minister for counter narcotics said, “for reduction of the poppy cultivation in the province, economical assistance has to be provided to Kandahar’s farmers and they should be distributed improved seeds and fertilizers so that they could cultivate poppy’s alternative on their fields. 
Provincial council’s members and representatives of various tribes asked the US embassy’s envoy and minister of counter narcotics to help them in eradication of poppy cultivation and provide assistance to the farmers in order that they avoid cultivation of poppy on their fields. 
US embassy’s envoy for counter narcotics to Kabul pledged his cooperation with the farmers. 
In the meeting governor of Kandahar said local administrations are determined to put an end to the process without any concession. 
In the meeting general Baz Mohammad Ahmadi, deputy minister of MoI in counter narcotics affairs said poppy cultivation has defamed Afghanistan internationally. 
Therefore, Afghan government is trying to seriously counter cultivation of poppy in the country.
