11th Anniversary of Constitution Marked

Kabul (BNA) The 11th anniversary of the country’s constitution is observed in a meeting held in the international press hall of the Ministry for Information & Culture, BNA reported.
Speaking at the meeting, Timor Shah Ishaqzai the deputy on youth affairs of the Ministry for Information and Culture described the constitution as compass in a ship, saying a ship without compass would lose its way.
Ishaqzai also said that if the law is implemented in society the social and government affairs would move ahead smoothly. Ahmad Zia Farahmand the representative of the independent commission for monitoring constitution implementation in his address stated that implementing constitution is essential for peace and stability and the rule of law in the country, saying people from all walks of life including government functionaries are equally responsible in respecting and implementing the law. Speaking at the meeting, Mari Nabard Ayeen the in-charge of BNA home news said that Afghanistan constitution is the best constitution in the region, adding the constitution approved in 12 chapters and 162 articles in 1382 guarantees the rights of women in society. She also said that all Afghan citizens including men and women should be aware from the constitution and should not allow anyone to breach the law. Speaking at the meeting Sayed Mustafa Sayedi the coordinator with the directorate of youth affairs at the ministry of information and culture termed the constitution as the best one in the region but said there are problems such as the authorities of the president and elections of mayors and district councils which needs amendments.
