Kabul (BNA) With the participation of Presidents of Afghanistan Tajikistan, Iran and Pakistan the international conference on Nawroz was inaugurated in Dushanbe, the capital city of Tajikistan, presidential press office said the other day.
The conference was also attended by official delegations from China, India, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and the UN and other international organizations of this region, a statement from the presidential press office told president of Tajikistan, Imam Ali Rehman welcomed the guests and congratulated them on the occasion of Nawroz and expressed his pleasure that once again the countries of this regions are celebrating this day in peace and calm atmosphere, according to the statement.
He added that with the efforts of the countries of this region Nawroz has been declared as a world festival.
It is therefore necessary for us to revive our past traditions, the statement added.
He expressed the hope that this occasion brings in the message of peace, and happiness, the statement maintained.
President Hamid Karzai appreciating the organizing of Nawroz festival and the hospitality of the people of Tajikistan congratulated all on this day.
He added that I am happy that this year this occasion is celebrated with the Tajik brothers and esteemed guests in Dushanbe.
He added that in most countries of this region, the Nawroz festival is celebrated as manifestation of prosperity and revival of nature life in the first day of the New Year.
He stressed further that this occasion is a sustainable phenomenon and common cultural heritage among these countries.
Touching on the history of this day he noted that in the past one thousand years immense books have been written on the history and tradition of this region and in most historic works of Nawroz have been mentioned and this indicates that it has been accepted as a national festival of the countries of this region.
The Nawroz has also been in the focus of attention of poets and writers and scholars of this region and it had its special place in the minds of every one and clearly incorporated in the literature of this region.
From time immemorial up to today the Pashto writers have incorporated this occasion in their poems as well.
Meanwhile, Khushal Khan Khattak and his poet sons have incorporated this day in their poems with their poetic beauties.
Mohamoud Ahmadi Nezhad President of Iran said at this conference that the culture of Nawroz should be further expanded in this region and stressed that the Nawroz message be the message of solidarity and peace to all world countries.
Meanwhile, President of Pakistan, Asif Alio Zardari congratulated this day to all people of this region.
At the end of this conference, it was decided that the international conference on Nawroz in 2013 be held in Ashgabat capital of Azerbaijan and in 2014 in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan.
