Russian Investor Expresses Interest in Afghanistan Lithium Mines

KABUL(BNA) A Russian businessman in a meeting with Sheikh Shahabuddin Dalawar, the Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum, expressed interest in investing in lithium mines in the country.

The Russian investor, known as the owner of the largest and most experienced lithium mining process factory in Russia, outlined plans to establish a facility for lithium extraction and processing in Afghanistan.

During the meeting, the Russian investor emphasized the need for a modern and standardized facility that would utilize advanced technologies and adhere to international environmental and safety standards.

For his part, Sheikh Shahabuddin Dalawar assured the Russian investor of the Islamic Emirate’s cooperation and support in accordance with the country’s legal framework.

Afghanistan is known to possess vast untapped mineral resources, including significant lithium deposits.

This expression of interest from a seasoned Russian businessman signals a potential boost for Afghanistan’s mining industry and the country’s economic development as a whole.
