Mazar-e-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar Railway Connects Central Asia with South Asia

KABUL (BNA) Amir Khan Muttaqi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan met with Uzbekistan Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov in Tashkent to discuss the infrastructure projects, on Monday.

The main focus of the meeting was the launch of the Mazar-i-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar railway train, said the Afghan Foreign Ministry in a statement.

Mr. Norov the Uzbek Foreign Minister thanked the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s high-rank delegation for their participation and said the implementation of the railway project connects Central with South Asia, and Afghanistan’s economy will be benefited from the launch of the project.

For his part, Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said Afghanistan is ready to start the practical work of the project, adding the negotiations already made with Pakistani authorities.

Lately, during dinner, the country’s Foreign Minister discussed the start of practical work of the project with the Uzbek president’s special representative on foreign policy Abdulaziz Kamilov in that country.

Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, accompanied by the finance minister and some other officials of the country is on their trip to Uzbekistan, attending the Tashkent international conference on Afghanistan.
