Measures for Safe Transfer of Afghan Pilgrims Underway: MoTCA

KABUL (BNA): The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation (MoTCA) on Thursday said that essential preparations for the safe airlifting of Afghan pilgrims to Saudi Arabia is underway.

A day earlier, the Operations Department of MoTCA discussed the transfer of Afghan pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for offering Hajj.

Deputy operations manager of MoTCA, Ghulam Jilani Wafa told Bakhtar News Agency that 13,000 Afghans would perform Hajj pilgrimage this year.

The transfer of these pilgrims would take place from the country’s four international airports, he added.

MoTCA is fully prepared for the transfer of pilgrims and the airlifting would begin from Kabul International Airport in the near future, he said. Thousands of Afghans travel to Saudi Arabia for performing Hajj pilgrimage annually.

The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation is responsible for the transfer of the pilgrims.
