Kabul (BNA) Presence of Daesh militants in eastern parts of Afghanistan has become concerning, but officials of the ministry for defense (MoD) are saying that they won’t spare any effort to fully uproot the group.
Brig. General, Dawlat Waziri, the spokesperson of MoD said, ‘heavy operations have been launched in eastern Nangarhar to annihilate IS faction, which resulted in annihilation of their bases in the province and sustaining heavy casualties to them.’ Operations are also ongoing in other turbulent districts of the province, Waziri further said, adding through conducting Shafaq operation, we could clear Kot and Achin districts from the IS loyalists. Waziri added that we are going to intensify our operations to fully remove the insurgent groups. Almost eighteen military operations are being arranged each day by the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces (ANSDF)and all of them had successfully accomplished so far, Waziri went on to say. Likewise recently, First Vice President, Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum said, ‘some foreign circles are trying to transfer Daesh militants to north.’ Gen. Dostum also stressed he would do anything possible to suppress the terrorist groups in north.
A number of political and military experts told that presence of Daeshis not only a serious threat to Afghanistan but to all regional countries particularly to Russia. Adi Khalid, former deputy minister of interior and a military expert said, ‘Daesh issue has become a security and political concern to Afghanistan, its allies and the region. Therefore, to fully uproot this terrorist faction, all international partners and regional countries should cooperate with Afghanistan.’ He also believes that the Afghan security forces are now capable enough to fight Daesh and the Taliban groups, as they could ensure security of the country and imposed heavy blows on terrorist groups in Nangarhar province. Another political expert, Aref Jalal said, ‘as experiences have shown, the attacks of the insurgents, particularly Daesh loyalists have always been defeated, thus, the faction will never be able to find any place in Afghanistan and they will soon be fully annihilated by the Afghan security forces.’ Likewise, people representatives in lower house of the parliament ask the security entities to seriously step up against IS militants in Afghanistan, because if the north is not cleared, presence of Daesh will threaten the regional countries as well. They also asked the security organs of the regional countries to cooperate with Afghanistan in ensuring security and don’t let any Muslim blood sheds any longer and remove the people worries and concerns. This is while that if the Daesh group activities are not prevented, there will a more dangerous war happen in the region. Therefore, the government of Afghanistan should practically step up in the respect.
