President Ghani Meets SIGAR’s John Sopko

Kabul (BNA) President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) John Sopko the other day at the presidential palace.
In this meeting, the two sides discussed and exchanged views on ways to fight administrative corruption in Afghanistan. The Special Inspector General expressed pleasure at the successful conclusion of Warsaw and Brussels Conferences, and briefed the President on SIGAR’s recent report. Expressing support for the anti-corruption measures and efforts of the Government of Afghanistan, Mr. Sopko said that SIGAR is ready for full cooperation in fighting corruption. Welcoming John Sopko, President Ghani commended SIGAR’s activities in Afghanistan and said that the government of Afghanistan endeavors to fight corruption with the commitment that it has to its people and international partners, and has had achievements in this area as well. The President asked for cooperation of SIGAR in building systems and databases
