FM Rabbani Meets Indian, Iranian Senior Officials On Foreign Affairs

Kabul (BNA) Foreign Minister, Salahuddin Rabbani met with the Indian government minister on foreign affairs, Mubasher Jawad Akbar, thanking him for his country’s wide cooperation in different fields, particularly provision of $1.5 billion to the people and government of Afghanistan, the foreign ministry said in a statement Tuesday.
Both sides discussed terrorism and called it a regional and world threat that should be fought jointly, the statement said.
According to another report, Minister Rabbani also met with the Iranian acting foreign minister, Mohammad Reza Sarmadi, exchanging view on some key issues, among them the Brussels Summit, which he said would not only, the members would be asked for financial support, but their international community’s support to the expansion and development of the country for helping it remain self-sufficient in the future.
He called the role of the regional countries very effective in investment in Afghanistan and said therefore a special meeting alongside the Brussels Conference would focus on the country’s economic cooperation by the member nations Sarmadi called development of economy, particularly in the eastern province of Herat, very important for Iran as he said extension of Khawaf-Herat railway and Chabahar transit way have been specialized for the regional economic cooperation, the statement added.
