Afghanistan Wants Turkey Play Strong Role In Regional Cooperation Encouragement

Kabul (BNA) President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said his country was interested to see Turkey playing key role in the encouragement of regional cooperation, a statement from his office said the other day.
Speaking on the two countries’ different aspects of relations at the hosting country’s Presidential Palace, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, with his Afghan counterpart spoke about peace and said his country was making effort to restore lasting peace and security in Afghanistan, according to the statement.
Erdogan vowed to provide further cooperation in different fields including taking part in the extension of the gas pipeline through encouragement of the Turkish companies and would continue supporting Afghanistan under the NATO Resolute Support (RS).
The country’s President, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, meanwhile thanked the Turkish President for his pledge of cooperation and Resolute Support in the next Brussels’ NATO Summit.
He asked that country for strong role playing in the economic cooperation with the Afghanistan to help change the country stay a connecting point of the regional countries.
During the meeting both countries’ representatives—Salahuddin Rabbani, Afghanistan foreign affairs minister with Turkish interior minister signed one agreement and two memorandums of cooperation and security, under which, both countries would regularly hold meetings on exchange of views on the regional and international matters.
According to another report, the president in his speech in the Afghanistan investment meeting in Istanbul of Turkey said he wanted to change the country into a linking point of the region through strengthening development of economy and extension of trade with the neighboring and regional countries. He said only one third of the country’s mines had been estimated and ready for extraction and investment.
The Turkish minister of economy and head of foreign economic affairs said Afghanistan enjoyed wide sources and his country wanted to expand the area for economic development of both countries.
The country’s president also met with the Turkish Prime Minister, Davutoglu and shared vision on the related matters.
The president returned home after the all-out meetings.
