Kabul (BNA) The authorities of the Ministry of Agriculture Irrigation and Life stock (MoAIL) breeding and Kabul Municipality said that plan to celebrate Nawruz and farmers’ festival gloriously than previous years.
In an interview with The Kabul Times reporter spokesman of the MoAIL Mohammad Akbar Rostamy and spokesman of Kabul Municipality Abdul Jalil Sultani said.
Q: what programs have been undertaken by MoAIL for more glorious celebration of farmer’s day and Nawruz traditional festival this year at the capital and provinces local?
Rostamy: The Afghan noble people have been moving gradually toward spring and Nawruz celebration. On this occasion the MoAIL and Kabul Municipality (KM) have started sapling plantation campaign in the capital city and provinces since March 6.2018 and would continue until the end of Hamal 1397.
This campaign has already been started in all provinces. This year, the MoAIL plans to celebrate Nawruz festival more gloriously and plan to plant 29000000 saplings both fruit bearing and ornamental throughout the country.
Q: which governmental, private and international bodies would be involved in current year’s sapling plantation campaign?
Rostamy: supply and distribution of saplings is the duty of MoAIL and this year we would supply about 2.3 million saplings and Agricultural cooperatives and Union of Nurseries would supply 24.8 million.
A number of international organizations are also involved in this campaign.
The MoAIL would distribute sufficient saplings to schools, hospitals and government departments. Kabul and provincial municipalities would also take active part in this campaign.
Spokesman of KM Abdul Jalil Sultani talking on Nawruz and farmers’ traditional festival said, this festival is celebrated every year by Kabul and provincial municipalities, MoAIL, private and international organizations in Kabul and other provinces with launching of national Atan, sapling plantation, music, Buzkashi Kite flying, egg fighting and other traditional games.
Q: what programs have been undertaken by KM on the occasion of Nawruz celebration?
Sultani: as the biggest service body, the KM plans to celebrate this traditional and cultural festival more gloriously this year.
The KM as a member of Nawruz Celebration Commission would organize farmers’ day together with the MoAIL in Badam Bagh area with hoisting of three color national flag and about 70000 saplings would be planted across capital Kabul and for implementation of this programs essential measures have been adopted. All urban districts have already been tasked to celebrate it in their localities better than past years.
