Kabul (BNA) The Ministry of Interior (MoI) dispatched 200 female police officers to Turkey on Saturday to participate in a 4-month training course.
The female police officers left for Turkey after participating in a special ceremony organized in Kabul International Airport. Gen. Hekmat Shahi, head of the gender and human rights department in the Ministry of Interior, said the female police officers belong to different provinces of the country. He said the female officers will be deployed to your respective provinces after they complete the training course in Turkey. According to Gen. Shahi, the officers will be trained by female Turkish officers and will receive promotions both in ranks and wages. The deployment of female police officers for trainings to Turkey comes as the Ministry of Interior (MoI) officials have said they are looking to expand the presence of female officers among the Afghan National Police (ANP) forces. Aroud 2,200 female officers are currently serving with the Afghan National Police (ANP). The MoI officials have said the ministry is looking to increase the number to 5,000 by the end of the current Afghan year, while another 5,000 will be recruited by the end of next year.
