Peace, Dire Need of Afghans: Gen. Dostum

Kabul (BNA) The first vice president General Abdul Rashid Dostum in meeting with Chinese ambassador to Afghanistan here the other day described peace as the prime need of Afghanistan, saying the cooperation among China, Pakistan and Afghanistan can ensure peace in the region. 
The first vice president also thanked China for its support in the reconstruction process of Afghanistan and providing scholarships to Afghan students. General Dostum also conveyed his best greetings to the Chinese president and people.
In the meeting, Chinese ambassador said that the recent visit of Afghan presided to China during which series of agreements were inked speaks of friendly relations between the two countries. The ambassador also said the readiness of his country in building hospitals, railways, power and water and academic education to civil and military fields. On Aynak copper mine project, the ambassador said that rocket attacks by militants, existence of relics and technical problems are the reasons for delaying extraction.
He also said that Amu Darya Oil project has been delayed because of the lack of crude oil process in Afghanistan, while processing in Uzbekistan was costly. The ambassador also said that during president Ghani’s recent visit to China two Chinese companies inked agreement worth 600 million US dollars to construct and help build oil refinery here. The Chinese ambassador also presented a golden watch to the first vice president and the vice president also presented a gift made from marble by craftsmen of Afghanistan to the ambassador. The vice president also said that government would provide security to foreign investors in Afghanistan.
