Conference On National Issues Held

Kabul (BNA) A conference on national issues with the initiative of the ministry for Information and Culture was held here yesterday.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen the Minister for Information and Culture said that Afghanistan is passing through a critical juncture of its history and it is the responsibility of all Afghans including the public opinion leaders and politicians to solve their problems through dialogue and understanding.
Calling for tolerance, Dr. Raheen went on to say that all the people particularly the public opinion leaders respect each other with tolerance and listen to each other’s opinions which are the basis of civilized societies.
In his speech the former president Sibghatullah Mujadadi hailed the Jihad of the nation against the former Soviet Union but added the widespread corruption is a matter of shame for the country Afghanistan.
There are corruption, kidnapping and criminal activities in today’s Afghanistan, calling for implementation of Sharia or Islamic law against corrupt people as remedy for the social evil.
A senior official with the defense ministry General Afzal Aman in his speech said that the strength of national army is 195,000 presently and more attention has been paid to adequately equip the air force of the country.
Spokesman for interior ministry Sediq Sediqi also spoke at the conference, saying the strength of national police is 157,000 and would spare no efforts in ensuring law and order in the country.
The message of Dr. Ahraf Ghani Ahmadzai the head of transition coordination commission was also ready by Sayed Baqir Kazimi in the conference.
