MoWE, Turkish Firm Sign Kajaki Dam Contract

Kabul (BNA) Eng. Ali Ahmad Osmani, Minister of Water and Energy signed yesterday MoU for development of Kajaki dam with Turkish-American Company.
After signing the contract, minister of water and energy said energy has changed to a good opportunity for regional cooperation by taking steps towards energy in Afghanistan.
Related to construction of the second part of Kajaki dam, Osmani said, “Based on the contract signed with a Turkish company, water reservoir of the dam will increase from 1.2 billion m3 to 2.34 billion m3.”
Osmani while pointing to social, economic and political impacts of the dam said: by construction of the second section of Kajaki dam, the dam would generate totally 151.5mw electricity.
Construction of the dam’s second section will cost $ 200 million. By completion of the second phase of the dam and installation of four turbine, the dam will generate 151.5 mw electricity.
